does not need any Installation if your computer has the operating systems MS-Windows XP (Service Pack 2 and higher) and MS-Office 2003 and higher as the available installation package B. does merely contain those components which are also part of the above mentioned computer environment.

In all other cases the installation is necessary as e.g. with operating systems Win 9x, Me, 2000, NT or without MS-Office. An installation can, however, also be made if the above mentioned system conditions are available.

Start of Using the Installation Program

A.
Chose an existing directory or create a temporary one where you file Ship-DB-Install.zip for installation.

B.
Click on the below download button of Ship-DB-Install.Zip.

C.
After download the file has to be unpacked with an unzip tool like e.g. Winzip.

D.
As a next step carry out the installation routine Setup-Ship-DB.msi and follow the program instructions.

E.
If access to -Netz is requested the MyODBC driver (see item 6) will be required. It can be loaded down at item2 A) and has to be unpacked and installed.

F.
To start the program please follow the instructions starting with item 4.

You can registrate for a possible 30 days test operation of according to item 7.

Start of without Installation Program:

1.
Create a new folder on your computer, e.g. "Ship-DB".

2.
Load down the following files:

A) Ship-DB-Demo.Exe (demo test program)
      state: 16.01..2010
      size: 426 KB
      file name: Ship-DB-Demo-X.Zip

B) Ship-DB-Demo.Dat (demo databank with approx. 4 500 names)
      state: 16.01.2010
      size: 986 KB
      file name: Ship-DB-Demo-D.Zip

C) MyODBC-3.51(ODBC driver for online connection to Ship-DB-Netz)
      by: MySQL AB
      size: 2,29 MB
      file name: MyODBC-3.51.11-2-win.zip

... e.g. into the directory "Ship-DB"

Unpack these files.

In case access to the online databank is requested -

- the installation of the MyODBC driver is needed in order to be able to recall data from the Ship-DB-Netz.

4.
Starting the program Ship-DB-Demo.exe will create the remaining subdirectories (a.o. for the photos).

The first start will create the folders files and photos.

After having entered the three capital letters for user identification (preset YYY for "Hans Mustermann") and clicking on OK the program will be ready for operation.

5.
Entry of user identification

You can also enter the user

identification here and store it.

6.
Demo operation of Ship-DB-Netz

Precondition for operation is an installed ODBC driver for MySQL on your computer.

In order to check call up -> system control -> administration -> data sources (ODBC).

Directions for installation – see item 3.

7.
Register demo in Ship-DB-Netz

Shift into the Ship-DB-Netz with option "Online".

As „Hans Mustermann“ you cannot work in the net, so call up file -> “Einstellungen” (see item 5.) und "Anmelden"

Please indicate name and surname as well as e-mail address.

Click on “Absenden”. After a successful registration Ship-DB-Netz will be available immediately.
